Rehab journey

Postby HighJinx » Mon Apr 14, 2014 8:32 pm

Wasnt sure where to put this but as gymnastic training is going to play a big part thought I would put it here.

Obviously I dont have a diagnosis for Jinx yet but being optomistic I am starting for rehab work with her. Previous attempts at walk hacking have not proved successful so I am now starting her back long reining.

Did some TMJ massaage today

http://youtu.be/jDqNc5nhuNo

Video is like watching paint dry but you can see she responds well but it does take a long while before she will release her jaw and lick and chew. Had to work away for a while today before getting the release but she seemed to enjoy the massage and relax.

Massaging the withers, big improvement from teeth flying but still holding tension and gets agitated and this is after physio and being rested for several days.

Just uploading some more vids but have the slowest broadband ever.......

One more vid. She is very stiff through her neck. Stretching exercise to stretch the atlas and axis joint. The theory being when I move back she should stretch forward and down with me but as you can see she just shuffles forward with me avoiding it. Will keep working away with it.

So she has had a week off from work time to start long reining out and about and see if the tension increases......

She is looking pretty good I think  just need those shoes off now as she is tending to land toe first again and I am sure that wont help her issues.

She is looking  Janet!
Love the difference in her reaction to right wither to left, well I don't 'love' it but at least you can see there is a difference and hopefully it will come beter and better in time.
 keep up the great work.

Great idea, Janet. You're doing all the right stuff.

Jinx looks really well and she is much more touchy-feely than Isba!

Will be fascinating to see if you notice any improvements....

I have managed to watch a bit of video but I think I might beat you for the slowest internet ever  Nice photo! I hope you get some improvement through the massage.

So, my optimistic approach has been halted somewhat!

Fast forward to today and Jinx started her Pulsed Electro Magnetic Therapy

Two treatments a day for a couple of weeks then Vet out to do back injections and Karina will also be there to discuss treatment plan and do some more work on her neck. Hopefully be able to start long reining at that point.....

She doesn't seem too fazed by that anyway!
