Postal matches

Postal matches

The BHAA has just introduced postal matches at walk/trot level, designed so even beginners can compete. You set the course up according to the rules, do the comp at home and send in your scores. Went over to Oxfordshire yesterday to do the match with Ros and Dom on their Connemara ponies, they did pretty well :-)

Monkey clearly found it a bit of a trial though

Sounds great  Likethe shot where you caught the arrow in flight
Nice looking ponies :-D and I like those black&white clip_on rope reins.

Went over to our friend Alex's today to do her postal match. Her Spanish horse, Etico, has had some bad treatment in the past and she has spent a long time working on getting him trusting and calm. She asked Ali to hop on today as he hasn't had anyone shoot left handed before. Lovely to see how trusting he is of her, and how he kept his cool, even though he was initially worried about these strangers turning up :-D

Results of the first match are in! Really pleased with how well CMA members have done :-)

Well done all! I really love the idea- don't have anywhere to shoot 30m (is that the distance Helen?) as our school is only about 30m long :hmmm: I'm not the competitive type so maybe I'll just have a play at home...might be interesting to introduce a bow to Chapiro  I think when Lydia leaves home I will start with an archery course- helps to know which end to point at the target

You need a 30 metre run (for the horse to walk down) but the targets only need to be 7 metres away (more on how to set it up here: http://www.bhaa.org.uk/index.php/postal ... urse-rules) so there would be room in your arena. If you fancy a lesson sometime, we'll come down for a day :-D

Oh right then I could! I think I need a bow to get one of them (Moo I guess) desensitised before you come- what sort of price might I pick up a training bow Helen? Yes to a visit :hurray:
