I have just had the shattering news that my 77 yr old Aunt's beautiful morgan mare, Diva, aged 15 yrs had to be pts last night after breaking her leg in the field hooleying in the mud with a new horse. She was the most beautiful person in every way, never any trouble and my aunty absolutely lives for her and still rode everyday. My cousin is not sure how she will get through this. We are all devasted just cant get my head round it poor poor girl, run free beautiful lady xxxx

Thank you girls Im messaging with my cousin whos staying with her mum tonight as she's really not good at all. Apparently she and a new mare were playing like nutters just before coming in for the night. Very muddy and slippery, she must have had an unlucky fall and snapped her femur. She somehow got herself across to the gate where Mu was coming to bring her in but collapsed in the road and was pts there by the gate so hugely traumatic. Poor Mu, shes an old lady and hoped they would grow old together, Diva has looked after her through knee surgery and all age related things ..cant believe this could happen to her, so utterly unfair :(

Oh that's really sad, Tess. Very sorry. My teenage pony (never actually mine but I had him on free loan for years) broke his leg in the field and had to be PTS too. It's strange but it does happen from time to time. Very sorry for your aunt and cousin. Poor mare
