Duct tape "twitch"

This is doing the rounds on social media at the moment:

Duct tape is bloody useful stuff, but I can't see why this would work?

This technique, however, I could see being really useful

 The second one is amusing.

I can sort of see how it might work. I remember when I was a teenager there was a bull in the field near the yard and he was standing right near the fence all day, not moving. I eventually told the farmer and he went to investigate. The bull had got his nose ring caught on one strand of hair that was attached to the gate and he was frightened of moving. One hair! Their noses must be that sensitive -I imagine horses' are too and maybe they don't move for the same reason -they don't know what it is but it feels like it will hurt if they pull back.

I also remember the one and only time I used a regular twitch -to clip my pony who was terrified of the clippers. OMG. How I have moved on

Thankfully! But we didn't know any better, it was what people did, and vets, blacksmiths and dentists often used them as a matter of course  Couldn't argue with them when I was young but did later
