Appleby horse fair

The annual horse fair is happening at the moment, lots of controversy as usual. Many of the pics in this report make for uncomfortable viewing, many unhappy-looking horses: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -fair.html

Got to admire the photography though.......

Love the photo of the old boy in front of his wagon

TBH I think a lot of the travellers really do love their horses and is a a minority that create the bad press - as a child I spent a lot of time at the local gypsy camp and their horses were cherished and well cared for

The photo from Appleby on this petition page has been doing the rounds, it apparently shows a mare and her foal being driven together. Whatever the age of the foal, it certainly doesn't look old enough to be working. I've signed:

Horrendous isn't it Helen - I signed too - that's the sort of thing that the RSPCA should step in and do something about

The whole Appleby thing makes me feel uncomfortable in general. I've watched a few documentaries on it and it doesn't sit happily with me.
