Draw reins banned in Switzerland....

...along with trimming whiskers, keeping horses on their own and zero turnout. Why are we so far behind?

The word is that it only in SJ comps- we don't allow them in comps so not such a big deal as I at first thought. Need to ban gogues in french dressage too!!!

Need to ban draw reins at French comps too!! Banning them behind the scenes at Swiss comps is a good start though. I remember going to Dublin show one year and seeing everyone, and I mean everyone, warming up in draw reins then whipping them off just before going in to compete.

Seems like even if it isn't a huge leap, it's a step in the right direction and it might raise awareness.

The Epona lot have written a nice blog post about it as ever: http://epona.tv/blog/2015/october/14-wa ... -the-sport

Introduce a free range label for sport horses.......we want the same kind of animal husbandry information on which we insist before we buy so much as a box of eggs

So I posted that on the AMOH page and it's had.......20 views. Guess people would rather see cute pictures of fluffy ponies than read about ways to improve the welfare of sports horses :?

Maybe some of you could share it on your profile?

I'm going to post it, Helen, but there's a lot going on on my timeline so I'll leave it for a day or two otherwise I fear it will get lost.
